Deadline: Friday May 8, 2019
Sponsor: APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists

Description
The Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) is pleased to announce the achievement award program for early career members from all areas of psychology (education, practice, public interest and science) to attend APA’s Annual Convention in 2019. Approximately 15 recipients will receive a plaque and reimbursement of up to $400 in convention-related expenses (this can cover travel, lodging, meals and/or convention registration fees).

The program is designed to reduce barriers to early career members’ attendance at APA convention and support their ability to make meaningful connections and engage in their own professional development. The $400 reimbursement will be provided upon submission of receipts directly related to convention expenses if mailed within three weeks following convention. Special thanks go to the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, the premier sponsor of this award.  Additional awards may be distributed when more allies and supporters of this award fund come forward. If you are interested in supporting this endeavor, and helping ECPs experience the power of Convention, please contact Eddy Ameen for further details.

Recipients are also strongly encouraged to attend the ECP social hour on Friday August 9th, 2019, 5:00 – 6:50 pm in the Regency Ballroom C, Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel, during which the awards will be presented.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must: (1) be dues-paid members of APA in any membership category; (2) have earned their doctorate in psychology or a related field within the last ten years; and (3) be committed to attend the current year’s APA Convention. All practitioners, researchers, educators, and other leaders anywhere in the world who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply.
  • To receive reimbursement of up to $400 in convention-related expenses, awardees are required to submit, within three weeks of convention, a) a brief summary (max 150 words) of their experience at convention and professional growth due to the experience, b) scanned copies of original receipts, and c) a completed APA C3 Expense Report that will be sent with the award notification letter
