ISPA now a Tax Exempt Organization in USA. ISPA has now been identified as a 501 C 3 charitable organization with the US government's Internal Revenue Service. This means that any US tax payer, individual or company, can donate to ISPA and potentially receive a charitable deduction toward their income taxes (consultation with tax preparer or accountant is recommended). The UNITED NATIONS has granted special consultative status to ISPA

 

Exploring School Engagement Internationally A workgroup emerging from the collaborative committee of the Society for the Study of School Psychology and the International School Psychology Association will be actively exploring the construct of school engagement internationally.
These efforts will be situated within the ISPA Research Committee, Chaired by Shane Jimerson. Drs. Shui Fong Lam (of Hong Kong) and Shane Jimerson (of the United States) will serve as collaborative chairs for this initiative.

The CESEP program is underway. CESEP (Culture, Education, Sport and Ethics Program) provides a prevention curriculum that is a fun and a dynamic way to teach students important lessons about drug prevention, fair-play, and the ethics behind drug free sport. ISPA is participating in this program. As of May, 2006 we have got 30 countries signed with some 100 teachers and students in the prevention curriculum -- invited. Standards for Accrediting Professional Preparation Programs in School Psychology

The Handbook of International School Psychology. Shane Jimerson, Tom Oakland and Peter Farrell worked with colleagues around the world to gather information about school psychology in different countries. Based on the success of these efforts, SAGE Publications asked them to develop a Handbook which will provide information regarding the context, origins, history, current status, infrastructure, preparation, roles, functions, responsibilities, current issues, and seminal references in school psychology from 44 countries. The Olympic Spirit through Children's Voice. The Center for Research and Practice of School Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Athens, in cooperation with the International School Psychology Association organized a project titled: “The Olympic Spirit through Children's Voice”. The goal of this effort was children's and adolescents' awareness concerning the Olympic values and ideals.

Crisis Intervention Training Program for European School Psychologists

Special training programs in crisis intervention were organized by the European task force group of ISPA through the Comenius Council Program of the European Union.

The last seminar was held in Tampere, Finland, July 18-24, 2007, in conjunction with the 2007 colloquium. Aplications can be sent for the next seminar, to be held in Utrecht Netherlands, in conjunction with the 2008 ISPA colloquium. Click here for further information.
