Child Development

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Part of the USA National Institutes of Health, the biomedical research arm of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Child & Family WebGuide - Describes and evaluates web sites that contain research-based information about child development.

National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families - A national, nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C., dedicated to advancing the healthy development of babies and young children.  ZERO TO THREE disseminates key developmental information, trains providers, promotes model approaches and standards of practice and works to increase public awareness about the significance of the first three years of life.

Comer School Development Program - The Comer Process is a school and system-wide intervention formulated by Dr. James P. Comer, at the Yale University School of Medicine's Child Study Center. It aims to bridge child psychiatry and education, positing that healthy child development is the keystone to academic achievement and life success.

Child and Family Statistics - Easy access to USA Federal and State statistics and reports on children and their families, including: population and family characteristics, economic security, health, behavior and social environment, and education.

The Child Development Institute - A resource center with online information on a wide range of child evelopment topics.

The Search Institute - An independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children, youth, and communities. To accomplish this mission, the institute generates and communicates new knowledge, and brings together community, state, and national leaders.

Early Child Development Website of the World Bank - A knowledge source designed to assist policy makers, program managers, and practitioners in their efforts to promote the healthy growth and integraldevelopment of young children. 

MEDLINEplus - Updated information on child development from the National Library of Medicine.

Child Development Basics - Information on physical, mental and emotional growth and development in children and teenagers.

Child Development Resources - Links useful sites on Child Development.

KidSource Online - An online community that shares values and goals in raising, educating and providing for children. Information, resources and advice.

ADOL: Adolescence Directory On-Line - An electronic guide to information on adolescent issues. It is a service of the Center for Adolescent Studies at Indiana University. Educators, counselors, parents, researchers, health practitioners, and teens can use ADOL to find Web resources for these topics.
