International Crisis Response Network

Annual Committee Meeting July 29, 2002 - Nyborg, Denmark.

Meeting chaired by Nevin Dolek and Shane Jimerson.
23 individuals attended the committee meeting.

1. Brief overview of the history and purpose of the ISPA ICRN

2. Welcome to new members - 15 additional names/e-mails were submitted to be added to the ICRN listserve.

3. The 2 ICRN symposium sessions were very well received. Special thanks to each of the symposium contributors. Handouts for each session are available on-line at www.education.ucsb.edu/jimerson There were also several related paper presentations and workshops by ICRN members that were very successful.

4. Discussed the translation of crisis related handouts. NASP publishes a book of handouts and would like to collaborate with individuals to translate some of these handouts for others to use around the world. Some have been translated in Turkey, Greece, and Germany. We now have 15 names/e-mails of individuals interested in contributing to this translation and providing electronic documents such that we can post on-line and make available to others around the world. Nevin and Shane will provide leadership on this.

5. Discussed further development of the ICRN fund to raise resources for ICRN activities. ICRN is currently included on the membership form and also was announced at the colloquium. Sue Hawick has been especially active on this front and will hopefully continue to circulate information and encourage colleagues to contribute to the ICRN fund.

6. Pre-colloquium workshops were a success and we look forward to ICRN related pre-colloquium workshops next year.

7. Possibly have a symposium that includes a summary of actual experiences in crisis response for next year's colloquium in China.

8. Discussed moving forward with the brief overview of crisis prevention and intervention activities of school psychologists around the world to generate a brief edited volume for distribution. Shane will continue to provide leadership on this and work with each of the contributors to pull together this information during the upcoming year.

9. Discussed developing a model letter that we can send out from ISPA to colleagues or representatives when a crisis event occurs in another country, to share our support, knowledge, and invitation for consultation/resources. Kathy Shivering had expressed interest in this, and Shane will also contribute to the development of a model letter.

10. Discussed the possibility of a NASP ERT Mini Grant to access additional resources to fund ICRN activities.

11. Discussed establishing an ICRN core team - about 10 members. Consider gathering as a team at future colloquium to establish shared training/foundation.

12. Discussed that the ICRN listserve has been a wonderful resource for many. Colleagues are able to communicate and share support and resources.

13. Discussed generating an ISPA Model that is sensitive to work in the schools, and with children, families, and communities. Shane will take the lead and work with others to generate a draft of this and then solicit additional input from ICRN members.
