THE
ISPA AWARD 2000
JOANNE WASCO
Joanne Wasco became a member of ISPA at the colloquium in Braga,
Portugal in 1991, and from the very beginning she has actively contributed to
the life and development of ISPA.
Very soon she became active
in the International Exchange Interest Group and has now for several years been
its chairperson and its driving force.
This Interest Group has,
under her leadership, contributed to one of ISPA’s major goals, the fostering
of the exchange of ideas and projects among members from different countries
in the world, visiting colleagues in other countries, and making friends. She
has made it possible for our members to experience at first hand how school
psychologists work in other cultural settings and to take these experiences
back home with them. All this has fostered better communication among our members
and has encouraged professional development. Furthermore, all of these initiatives
have put an added dimension to the spirit of ISPA, which manifests itself so
vividly in our annual colloquia.
ISPA is deeply grateful to
Joanne for her contributions to the growth of our association and for the development
of the unique ISPA spirit. She has done her work out of deep inner convictions,
and never with a desire to attain any personal gain. Her charm, her warmth,
her captivating smiles have attracted people towards her and towards ISPA.
It is with great pleasure
that I present this award to Joanne on behalf of ISPA, our small way to say
thank you for all you have done for us over the last ten years.
