Bernhard
Meissner was one of the very first in Europe to actively involve himself in
ISPA, even before it was formally founded. He was the first elected treasurer
and served in this capacity from 1982 to 1985. These were very difficult years
because Cal Catterall was very ill and not able to function. When Cal passed
away in 1984, Bernhard was part of the group that stubbornly tried to carry
on ISPA without any funds.
Bernhard also served as the
first Colloquium Coordinator, an extremely important position during this period
because the colloquia was the only vehicle for raising the funds needed to publish
the World Go Round. He served in this position until 1991.
Bernhard was instrumental
in drafting the ISPA Colloquium Manual.
This
award is a small token of our deep appreciation and thanks to Bernhard for all
he has done for ISPA since its inception.
