THE
ISPA AWARD 1999
STUART HART
As an educator, a scholar, an international ambassador,
an executive officer of this association, an articulate representative of the
professional community, and an undying spokesman for advancing children's rights,
Stuart Hart has served the International School Psychology Association and its
goals in exemplary ways. Professor Hart's consensus-seeking thought-provoking,
and conscientious leadership style has enhanced his effectiveness and that of
those fortunate to work with him. We value his sensitivity, wisdom, knowledge,
commitment, and problem-solving abilities. We applaud his acceptance of responsibility
and the breadth of his contribution to our profession.
Stuart served as the fifth president of ISPA from
1991 to 1992, and during his term of office focused on the issue of the psychological
rights of the child. He promoted research in this area in many countries, and
with his charisma and enthusiasm encouraged many of our colleagues to take an
active interest in this important question. He has published widely on children's
rights and has represented ISPA in several important international forums.
With this humble award we express our appreciation
to him for his invaluable work in promoting the aims of our organization.
