DETLEF BERG

Detlef has been an active member of ISPA since 1985, and is particularly well known and esteemed for the XIth annual colloquium which he organized in Bamberg, Germany in 1988 - an extremely well-organized colloquium with an excellent professional and social program.

He has been in charge of the training of school psychologists at the University of Bamberg since 1980, where he was Dean of his faculty and Vice President of his university. He has carried out much interesting and important research in the field of school psychology. He has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the profession in Germany, and also in many other countries.

Detlef has always kept in close contact with practicing school psychologists and was a founding member of the charter board of the Bavarian School Psychology Association, established in 1987.

Detlef has supported ISPA with great enthusiasm in a number of ways, and has been a patron for many years. He has strongly supported the Association in its mission to promote the development of school psychology worldwide and to facilitate the implementation of children’s rights. In particular, he provided financial support to a crisis intervention project initiated by ISPA members in Turkey after the devastating earthquake there in 1999.

This award is a small token of our deep appreciation and thanks to  Detlef for all he has done for ISPA over many years in advancing the goals of international school psychology.
