THE
ISPA AWARD 1999
BAYARD BARTLEY
Bayard Bartley never wanted to serve in any formal
function within ISPA. Nevertheless, he is without a doubt a colleague who has
served ISPA through various forms of service for more than two decades.
Bayard may be known by more people in different countries
than any ISPA member. We all retain fond memories of this special person linking
people by using song, including his ukulele, as an international form of communication
among school psychologists. Over these years Bayard has recruited the most new
members for our Association. For example, in Brazil, his sympathetic, happy,
and enthusiastic qualities elicited more than 100 new ISPA members.
He works yearly to disseminate information about
ISPA and obtain members at national and regional conferences within the United
States. He opens his home to ISPA members, and facilitates cultural and professional
exchanges for them. The new millennium will show us that life is to be lived
with love, peace, happiness, and music. Bayard's personal and professional qualities
exemplify these important qualities.
This award is a permanent reminder to us and to those
who follow of Bayard's abiding commitment to school psychology and to our Association,
and to his personal values.
